Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones Sr. — as well as leaders with CBRE and KDC — will be inducted into the North Texas Commercial Association of Realtors and Real Estate Professionals for his trailblazing efforts in both sports and real estate.
Jones, founder and CEO of Frisco-based Blue Star Land, will be inducted by the industry group into its 2018 NTCAR Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame, along with KDC President Tobin Grove. Last year, Jones joined a small group of National Football League owners in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The longtime owner of the Cowboys has the innate ability to leave his mark on anything he’s involved with in an exceptional way, whether its managing the Cowboys, building a stadium or a mixed-use development, said Darrell Hurmis, chairman of the 2018 NTCAR Hall of Fame event committee.
"Jerry Jones is a bold and creative leader who not only dreams big but also has the drive, business acumen, fortitude and spunk to make incredible things happen," said Hurmis, in a statement.
Grove, who oversees many of KDC’s projects, is known for his vision with the Dallas-based development firm, which has build major projects — such as Toyota North America’s corporate headquarters in Legacy West, as well as other corporate hubs in the 255-acre mixed-use development, and State Farm Insurance’s regional hub at CityLine in Richardson.
KDC is currently building an 250,000-square-foot office tower at The Epic, an 8-acre mixed-use development in Deep Ellum, as well as an office building in the $200 million West Love mixed-use development near Dallas Love Field airport.
In addition to honoring Jones and Grove, NTCAR will also recognize Mickey Ashmore, chairman of retail services Americas for CBRE, with the Michael F. McAuley Lifetime Achievement Award. The award is given to individuals in the real estate community that has dedicated their time to service in elevating the real estate industry.
Ashmore has served on NTCAR’s board of directors in 2010 and 2012, as well as an executive board member in 2011. The former English teacher also took his experience to teach three classes to help further professional growth in the industry.
Some of the previous recipients of the NTCAR Hall of Fame include Trammell Crow, Henry S. Miller Jr., John Stemmons Sr., Roger Staubach, Gerald Hines, Ross Perot Jr. and many other distinguished real estate professionals.
Jones, Grove and Ashmore will be honored at the 30th anniversary of the NTCAR Reunion and Hall of Fame event on Wednesday, May 10 at the Dallas Country Club.
