Verena Commins plays button accordeon and currently lives in Galway where she forms an integral part of Galway's thriving traditional Irish music scene. She appears on the newly released CD ‘From the Chest’ by fiddler Kevin O’ Connor on the Malgamú Music Label and has recently recorded with the current uilleann piper with the Afro-Celt Sound System Emer Mayock. She also plays piano and her unique style can be heard on the highly innovative flute album from Niall Keegan titled 'Don't touch the Elk'. Verena graduated from the University of Limerick with an MA in Ethnomusicology last year and went on to become one of the founding Directors of the Galway School of Irish Traditional Music. Her music has taken her all over Ireland and England and 1999 has already seen trips to New York and the US Virgin Islands. She recently completed a highly successful tour of Italy and Sardinia with Faolán.
